According to Greenpeace's Compass newsletter, which apparently has a newer issue (Winter) than the link I just shared with you (Spring), their own Global Ocean Treaty negotiations with the UN was initially promising -- but has fallen short.
They've apparently gone through three -- count 'em, THREE -- rounds of negotiations with governments aligned with the UN, and yet NONE of these folks in power have any interest in coming up with solutions to the climate emergency and massive biodiversity losses we face.
I suppose you could sign on to the Greenpeace petition for the US to take a strong position on the treaty yourselves. For whatever good that will do. Sorry if I seem somewhat more negative than usual, but truly I despair at the human capability for cognitive dissonance/self-destruction.
