What a concept: kids playing outdoors.

I was blown away by this article I read in Sunday's NY Times magazine, about how there are 1400 waldkitas, or forest kindergartens, in Germany.

What a way to spend a day! As a young kid! In nature! Any correlation between lack of appreciation for the outdoors, and the fact that U.S. children are -- have been for years -- coddled to the point where they don't even have an inkling of a possibility of walking to school?

All of a sudden, I want to be 5 years old again. In Berlin.
