This month marks the 47th Earth Day. It seems impossible to me that it's been so long since I stood in the yard at Douglass Jr-Sr High School in Croom, MD, on a beautiful day with my classmates and heard speakers talk about Planet Earth and the need for conserving our resources. I've spent naive, blissfully ignorant winter days, enjoying spring-like temperatures... but no more. These types of days just depress me.
Articles like this ("Earth Sets a Temperature Record for the Third Straight Year") from the NY Times bring home the truth: we are experiencing the deleterious effects of our years and years of First World industrialization.
What can you do, personally, to reverse this trend? Activate. Motivate yourself. Your actions have power. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Do it, for your children and their children.
